Charles Kepha

My names are Charles Kepha. I got saved on 17th August 2002. By the time I was in Primary school level, Youngsters for Christ Team had visited our school. Our school was one of the institutions that had opened their doors for the ministry to come and minister to the students. They had organized for a youth camp this time round, year 2002 and offered to pay for some of the pupils to come to the camp and I was one of them.

I registered to go for the camp with two of my friends, Peter Adoyo and Dennis Omondi. Our main aim of going to the camp was to look for beautiful girls “girlfriends” and come out with them but that was not the thought of God in our lives. We did not know that God was directing our feet to somewhere that is of change or transformation.

Little by little my motive was being changed because at the camp guys were like brothers and sisters. While Samuel was ministering in one of the evening services I saw the need of giving my life to Jesus. The message was all about the love of God in my life and that same Saturday night is when Christ found me and transformed my life and my two friends Dennis and Peter.

After camp, I joined the ministry and decided to work with the other team members’ up to now. The ministry has been of big help to my life. In the first place it has helped me grow in Christ as it is its aim. I have made friends who care about me and who are ready to stand with me no matter what.
God through the ministry has helped me realize my gift and talents and to begin to use them for God’s glory. The ministry has uplifted my faith and helped me expand my thinking capacity.

I love you all with the love of God and God bless you big time.

My life has changed a lot since I got born again 3 years ago. Before life for me was just about hanging around with non Christians, listening to secular music and talking about things that were contrary to the will of God. I used to go to church which was mandatory considering the fact that I was born and raised in a Christian background, my dad being a leader in the church , he always wanted his children to follow in his footsteps which we did very well, with a big stick in his hand showing us the way to church.

Since I got saved I’ve learnt alot about God and His purpose for me, I’ve learnt to surrender all to him and trust in him for everything. Even though temptations are there and it’s like they multiply each and every time I get closer to God, through all he has never let me go not even for a second.

I saw that I was living a worthless life and doing things that were not pleasing before the eyes of the Lord and saw the need of a savior thus surrendering my life to Him.

ImageAfter clearing high school a group of friends and I thought it wise to go for an adventure camp which was meant to clear our heads from the vigorous work of studying.

We set forth on 8th December 05 with our camping gadget full of jubilation. On our way a thought came to us to branch in one of the pubs to, “charge our minds” before we entered the camp site. The thought turned out to a drinking spree. We drank & drank until we could not take anymore. My friend & I walked across the terrains with our camping gadgets feeling as though the world was on our hands; upon reaching the campsite we pitched our tents. At this moment we were only two: The others were to join us later. After preparing the campsite we left for supper at 7pm.

We did not go far before one of our friends from a different campsite invited us to their site; she was a girl guide couching a group of teenage girls. Being in the midst of girls was accommodative in that we had much to talk on, we left that site to join another group of youths where there was a party and so we joined to the drinking & laughter, I can’t explain exactly what transpired after this event. I later came to learn that the event that followed were an avenue to an acceptance of Jesus Christ as my Lord & savior.

Two events were happening at the same time. There was a raid by gangsters in Jam Park, a stone throw away from Rowallan Camp. In the same time frame there was a commotion in the site where we were, this brought confusion. One of the scout leaders went to seek help from the security personnel in the camp. To my amazement a forest ranger was led to me reason being, I was the one bringing commotion. The ranger didn’t want to hear my side of the story, he began, “working on me” without any relevant reason. Seeing that my life was on the line, I ran past the large crowd that had already gathered

I heard a gun shot in the air but this did not deter me from vacating in their presence. The second shot hit my left side, missing my heart with a few millimeters. I was unconscious for quite some time. I was taken to National Hospital and released on the same day of December 9th 2005. The police insisted on me being taken back to the police station to draft a statement. I later came to learn that a fleet of cars had infested the crime scene. This were police cars that had been sent to Jam Park to quell the tension

They could not release me on account of that bullet shot. It was an offence for the forest ranger and so they were working ways to cover him. I spent 11 days in police station with the bullet wound as the police were doing their investigation. In between those 11 days I gave my life to Christ. I came to a cross road: my life didn’t make much sense. After a deep soul searching I gave in to Christ’s calling because He was the only one who could change my life for good.
