VBS was started in the year 2007 (August) in order to build a foundation for the love of God in children at an early age.due to the challenges faced by the kids in the slum area a need to give hope to the kids vbs was started.

Most of the children living in kibera have little or no access to basic necessities such as electricity,clean water and sanitation,balanced diet and proper medical care.Education and opportunity are rare for some of this children and thus being trapped in the cycle of poverty.

Those enrolled in the local day schools face the challenge of catching up with school work due to little and sometimes no access to electricity at home during the night or assist with house work such as fetching clean water far from home, prepare meals and do laundry for the entire family.

Such kids tend to miss a very important part of their growth which is play and just beingkids.At a tender age these kids are overworked and tend to grow up with a very negative attitude towards life and God.

VBS desires to setup a kids “club house” with:

1. Bible class-weekly bible study to run at the club house once every week
2. Inbuilt library- this will ensure that the kids have a place to do there private studies uninterrupted with someone they can trust to assist them with school work.
3. Play place- this will cater for the young ones
4. recreational facilities- this will ensure that the kids are involved in one or more activity/sport which they are good in.proffessional training will be conducted and the kids encouraged to participate in local and international championships.
5. Talents- different talents such us acting,dancing singing,instrumentalists,etc will be identified and natured at an early
6. Motivation-this will include regular parties, gift items, field trips etc
7. Weekly feeding programs to carter for the unfortunate ones.
