ImageThe ministry was founded by brother Samuel Njiru who was led to Christ in July 1988 by a young girl. After receiving Jesus Christ and reading the Word of God, he was challenged by Ephesians 2:8-10. Through this scripture, a burden was laid on him to reach the youth in his community. Not knowing how to start, he sought God for direction. While Samuel was serving in Life Ministry - Kenya (Campus Crusade for Christ) as a field volunteer and in the music departments, God answered his prayer and YCT was born. Since the ministry's beginning, Samuel has been leading YCT full-time. He is now married to Charity Njiru.

This emphasis is clearly seen in the YCT mission statement: “To share the love and fear of God to the youth/young adults worldwide for the purpose of building a heavenly bound generation that will attract others to love God and fear Him in our world today.” The ministry he leads–Youngsters for Christ Team–has undergone tremendous spiritual and numerical growth. Its growth and impact has captured the attention of many Nairobi citizens. YCT trusts that many will be reached with Christ's message of good news, not only from the pulpit but also through other relevant approaches such as evangelistic medical camps, food and clothing distribution to the needy, etc.
